Professional Partnerships

VIC partners with county agencies, social service organizations, funders, university departments, and individuals to create high quality, in depth media projects that can be used as tools for social change, public awareness and education. Since 2007, VIC has produced professional projects in the areas of gang prevention and intervention, youth development and pregnancy prevention. The production process relies on groups and individuals in San Diego County to collaborate in the development of the content to assure that it is culturally sensitive and accurate. VIC is one of the few production services that creates projects intended for Spanish speaking audiences. In addition, the program promotes citizen participation in the community’s ability to identify problems, create solutions and be proactive in understanding and addressing issues such as gang activity in the community. The video empowers the community through education and action to intervene.

"Using socially responsible media to drive civic engagement is not just about advancing one nonprofit's mission, but rather advancing our entire community forward and affecting positive social change in North County San Diego," said Jeanine Guarino, Program Director at Transitional Youth Academy. "Video in the Community is an important catalyst making that change possible."
